This website (the personal portfolio of Arsalan Khan) respects your privacy. This page explains what limited data is collected, why, and the rights you have. It is written to align with common requirements in the UK/EU (UK GDPR & PECR), Canada (PIPEDA), Australia (Privacy Act 1988 / APPs), the UAE (PDPL) and the United States (CCPA/CPRA).

Who is responsible

What is collected

  • Analytics (only with your consent): via Google Analytics 4 — pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (country/city derived from IP; Google does not store your full IP), device/browser type, referrer, and on-site interactions (theme switches, CTA clicks, résumé views/downloads).
  • Communications: if you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to write.
  • Functional storage: your theme preference and your cookie choice are stored locally in your browser. These are not shared and are not used to identify you.

There are no sign-ups, no forms that store data, no payments, and no advertising on this site.

Cookies & similar technologies

  • Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — set by Google Analytics only after you click “Accept”. Used to measure visits.
  • Local storage — arsalan-os-theme (your theme) and arsalan-consent (your cookie choice). Functional only.

Analytics run under Google Consent Mode v2, defaulting to denied until you accept. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.

Legal basis & consent

Analytics are processed on the basis of your consent (UK GDPR/PECR, PIPEDA, PDPL). You may withdraw consent at any time using Cookie settings below. Where applicable in the US (CCPA/CPRA), note that this site does not sell or share personal information.

Third parties & international transfers

Analytics are provided by Google (see the Google Privacy Policy). The site is served by a web host. Data may be processed on servers outside your country (including the United States) under the providers’ safeguards.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to the Google Analytics retention setting (up to 14 months). Emails are kept only as long as needed to respond.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • UK/EU (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, withdraw consent, and complain to a supervisory authority (e.g. the UK ICO).
  • Canada (PIPEDA): access and correct your data and withdraw consent.
  • Australia (APPs): access and correct your data, and complain to the OAIC.
  • UAE (PDPL): access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and withdrawal of consent.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): know, delete, correct, opt out of sale/sharing (not applicable — none occurs), and non-discrimination.
